Centerstream Names Sameer Qureshi as Chief Commercial Officer

Centerstream, a district energy developer, owner, and operator, today announced the appointment of Sameer Qureshi as Chief Commercial Officer. In this role, Qureshi will lead the company’s commercial strategy, deal origination efforts, and the development of long-term energy service agreements with municipal, institutional, and large-scale real estate clients.

Sameer Qureshi, CCO

Qureshi brings nearly two decades of experience across energy infrastructure finance, project development, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial strategy. Throughout his career, he has structured more than $4 billion in transactions, led $1.7 billion in acquisitions, and helped build commercial frameworks that generated more than $36 million in recurring EBITDA through long-term customer partnerships.

“Sameer brings a rare combination of commercial leadership, transaction expertise, and deep district energy experience,” said Mason Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Centerstream. “As we continue to grow our platform, his ability to structure strategic partnerships and create long-term value will be a tremendous asset to our customers and our business.”

Most recently, Qureshi served as Chief Commercial Officer at Cordia, a KKR portfolio company, where he led commercial strategy and origination across the company’s district energy portfolio. Previously, he was Director of Acquisitions & Structuring at Clearway Energy Group, leading campus and district energy acquisitions, project development, and public-private partnership transactions. He began his career at NRG Energy, where he spent more than a decade structuring project finance, tax-exempt financing, and tax-equity transactions across conventional and renewable energy assets nationwide.

“I am excited to join Centerstream at a time of significant opportunity for district energy and distributed infrastructure,” said Qureshi. “Centerstream’s approach to building long-term partnerships aligns closely with my experience and passion for developing innovative energy solutions. I look forward to helping expand the platform and deliver value for our customers and communities.”

The addition of Qureshi further strengthens Centerstream’s leadership team as the company continues to expand its district energy platform and deliver sustainable energy infrastructure solutions that support the evolving needs of municipalities, institutions, and large-scale real estate developments.

UK District Energy Leader Visits Centerstream’s St. Louis Platform as Global Interest in New Model Grows

Centerstream, a district energy network and distributed energy developer, owner, and operator, is advancing its St. Louis platform as a long-duration model for district energy, structured around a 90-year agreement that aligns energy infrastructure with real estate planning, capital investment, and public policy considerations.

Simon Woodward at Centerstream St. Louis plant

On May 1, the company hosted Simon Woodward, Chairman & Technical Director of the UK District Energy Association (UKDEA), at the Centerstream St. Louis Energy Center. The visit included a review of the platform’s structure and operations, as well as a discussion of long-term, integrated energy systems across cities and campuses.

The St. Louis platform aligns development, ownership, and operations over an extended time horizon, reflecting an approach to district energy that differs from traditional utility structures. Woodward’s visit represents one example of ongoing engagement with participants across the district energy sector.

“District energy is about long-term infrastructure stewardship and planning at the scale of a city or campus,” said Mason Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Centerstream. “The structure we’ve implemented in St. Louis brings together capital, development, and operations in a way that supports long-term performance.”

Woodward, who has more than 30 years of experience developing district energy systems, is currently involved in multiple heat network projects across the United Kingdom. He emphasized the importance of established operating systems in informing future development.

“Real-world platforms like Centerstream’s St. Louis system demonstrate how district energy performs over time,” Woodward said. “Successful systems combine technical discipline, long-term investment, and alignment with city and campus needs.”

The Centerstream St. Louis Energy Center, originally developed in 1904, serves nearly 70 buildings across downtown St. Louis through more than 17 miles of steam distribution infrastructure. The system provides thermal energy to a mix of commercial, institutional, and civic customers and continues to evolve to meet current operational and decarbonization objectives.

The discussion also reflected broader market dynamics, as UK and European markets continue to advance coordinated heat network policy, while development in the US is occurring through a mix of municipal, campus, utility, and private-sector models.

In his role, Barnett will support Centerstream’s growth strategy by advancing relationship-driven opportunity development and anchoring partnerships across energy and infrastructure markets, helping align stakeholders and bring the right teams together as projects move from concept into execution.

“Wayne’s experience across high-impact infrastructure markets strengthens our ability to build partnerships where district energy is developed alongside broader planning and capital priorities,” said Mason Miller, CEO of Centerstream. “We take a hands-on approach, bringing together development, engineering, finance, and delivery early, so our partners can move from ideas to built projects with clarity and momentum.”

Barnett will work in close coordination with internal teams, including engineering, finance, structuring, legal, policy, regulatory, and government affairs, as well as external partners who influence feasibility, capital formation, and execution strategy for priority projects.

“I am excited to join Centerstream at a time of significant growth and opportunity in the energy infrastructure space,” said Barnett. “I look forward to working with this exceptional team to expand strategic partnerships, advance development initiatives, and deliver long-term solutions with meaningful community impact.”

Throughout his 25-year career, Barnett has supported the delivery of more than $1 billion in energy infrastructure projects and the issuance and marketing of capital markets securities spanning hundreds of billions of dollars for public, non-profit, and private-sector clients. His experience includes facilitating a $165 million energy infrastructure M&A transaction involving a microgrid serving a US airport and supporting approximately $300 million in higher-education energy infrastructure projects across multiple institutions and campuses.

Barnett holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Montreat College and a graduate certificate in economic development from the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government.
